Product Overview:

High-voltage / LV-voltage prefabricated substation, also called as "European Type Substation Transformer" is the complete set of power distribution equipment, which is composed of HV switchgear, power distribution transformer, LV switchgear, electricity metering devices, reactive compensation devices, connection sub-assemblies and other auxiliary devices. These components, devices and sub-assemblies are prefabricated in one or several different housings and then used together to transmit power from HV system to LV system.

After digesting the up-to-date technology and advantages of the prefabricated substation in the market and based on the actual project application requirements, the new generation of prefabricated substation was designed and developed. It features compact structure, less land occupation, high safety and reliability and simple installation. It could be installed in load centers and shifted with the load center. The substation could be widely used for infrastructure constructions, oilfields, harbour and ports, high building, highway, metro, airport and residential neighbourhood.

  • Ambient temperature: maximum +40°C; minimum -25°C (outdoor), -5°C (indoor); monthly average: +30°C, annually average: +20°C.
  • Relative humidity: not higher than 95% for daily average humidity and not higher than 90% for monthly average at 25°C ambient temperature.
  • Altitude: less than 1000 meters.
  • Seismic level: less than 3m/s² at horizontal direction and less than 1.5m/s² at vertical direction.
  • Installation environment: No obvious and heavy pollution, no explosive and corrosive gas and dust, with good air ventilation and no severe vibration and shock.
Notes: If the application environment is different from the above standard service conditions, customized designs are available.

  • HV side could adopt ring type, dead front type, dual power source, with or without HV metering. All functions of the traditional power substation could be integrated into this prefabricated substation.

Excellent Temperature Rise Limit Design and Sound Heat Dispersion

"Chimney effect" air ventilation structure is adopted for the enclosure, thus to greatly optimize product's heat dispersion performance. Temperature rise limit conforms to the 10K class requirements of GB 17467 and IEC 1330.

Outstanding Environment Adaptability

Different types of enclosure for clients' selection and application, including common steel plate enclosure, composite board, stainless steel plate and "three-proof process" board. The composite board adopts superior double-layer zinc steel plates, strengthened with heat shield composite board materials between the layers.

The composite board enclosure has the following features:

  • Very strong mechanical strength, anti-shock capability and tensile strength.
  • Excellent sun blazing-resistance, anti-radiation and heat-isolation performance.
  • Anti-freeze, crack-proof and corrosion-resistance.

Structure and Layout Flexibility

Different structure/layout could be used, like the rectangle "目" structure or inverted T-shape "品" structure. With or without operation corridor split structures or other customized design.

Optional Accessories

Normally, four types of HV switches are used for prefabricated substation, that is, pressured load switch, vacuum load switch, SF6 load switch, vacuum circuit breaker. Considering the facts that standard vacuum circuit breaker is large in size and high in price, it is not recommended for installation in substation unless specially required.

HV circuit breaker functions very importantly in power distribution system, that is, break normal load current and short-circuit current. However, in end-user's power system, especially for 10kV system with small capacity, the load switch is normally used to break the normal load current, and very seldomly to break the short-circuit current. Therefore, HV combination of switch plus fuse is used to substitute HV circuit breaker. Here, the load switch is used to break the normal load current and fuse is used to break the short-circuit current. Almost more than 95% prefabricated substation integrates HV load switch as normal practice.

LV Switchgear

Different types of LV switchgears could be used, for example, GGD, GCK, GCS or other. It is recommended to use GGD series LV switchgear:

  • Simplified design, with only incoming circuit, outgoing circuit and compensation. This simplified GGD switchgear would substantially optimize component layout within the housing and reduce the switchgear size.
  • Maintenance of GGD switchgear is mainly carried out from the front panel, more convenient for operation.
  • Reasonable layout of consumable components at the front area of the switchgear (such as LV circuit breaker, isolation switch, fuses, contactors, etc.) makes inspection and maintenance very convenient. High-reliability components such as copper busbars and insulators are located at the back, requiring no regular maintenance.

Auxiliary Functionalities

The following functionalities could be added as per requirements:

  • For dry-type transformer, LD series temperature & humidity control system could be equipped to monitor temperature conditions. Preset temperature values enable automatic fan start, alarm or trip, thus ensuring safe operation. Trip signal can be used for HV or LV main switch tripping.
  • For oil transformer equipped with gas relay and temperature indicator, pressure (heavy gas), gas (light gas), and over-temperature alarm and tripping signals can be integrated.
  • Transformer room door alarm and trip signal can be used for tripping HV incoming circuit.
  • At standard air-natural ventilation conditions, the transformer in the prefabricated substation can operate at full load, meaning a cooling system is normally not needed unless operating in excessive ambient temperatures or overloading.
  • Anti-condensation system can be added if required.
  • Light control or time control sub-assemblies can be added for specific applications such as street lights or airports.
